History
Located in South Central Missouri we enjoy the wonderful world of the Missouri
Fox Trotter in many diverse aspects including showing, shoeing, trail riding, modeling, riding the wagon, breeding and versatility
events.
Horses have always been a family affair.
We both grew up on the backs of horses, but in different aspects of the horse industry. Matt grew up in a family of
gaited horse training, showing, trail riding and shoeing. He is the son
of the late Darrell and Betty Boggs. At the age of 6 months Matt was on his first
trail ride in Eminence, MO. As Matt grew up he was either at a horse show or
trail ride every weekend. At the age of two he and his brother made their first
show depute at Ava on their stick horses. Matt’s older siblings grew up
showing and training Saddlebreds in southern Illinois with their parents Darrell and Betty at Boggs Stables, but once the
family moved to southern Missouri they became involved with the Missouri Foxtrotter. During Matt’s teenage
years he assisted his father in the family farrier business and broke colts for many clients.
In Matt’s late teenage years he decided he wanted to rope, so he saved his money and bought his first quarter
horse in which he trained and learned to rope off of. After many countless hours
of practice and dedication Matt won many championships and accomplished what many thought he couldn’t. He continued to shoe, break and train gaited horses throughout this whole time. Through working with many different type of horses and styles of competition, Matt has a very large knowledge
of how to ask horses to do the best that they can accomplish in the area of performance they were designed for.

I grew up in Kansas on the back of a quarter horse showing, barrel
racing, and rodeoing. During my teenage years I competed in Kansas High School Rodeo Association, Mo-Kan
Youth Rodeo Association. After I graduated high school I pursued rodeo and
competed in the Intercollegiate Rodeo Association at Fort Scott
Community College and then at Southwest
Missouri State University.
Matt and I met in 1999 while we were both competing at a Missouri
Family Rodeo. Matt was team roping and calf roping and I was barrel racing. As I finished college and worked, Matt worked with his father in the farrier business
and broke out and trained gaited horses during the week and we enjoyed our Quarter horses on the weekends. As time went on we became to busy in the Fox Trotting world, that we decided to start showing Fox
Trotters and stop rodeoing.
